The report adds the 36-year-old contacted Szczesny by phone and internally pushed for the Barcelona transfer. Fellow keepers Keylor Navas and Loris Karius were also reportedly discussed, following Marc-Andre ter Stegen's patella injury, but it seems it will be the former Juventus ace who will link up with Hansi Flick's team in the coming days.
